Follow the instructions on the package for cooking the tapioca pearls. Boil them in water for about 20-30 minutes or until they become soft and chewy. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
While the pearls are cooking, prepare the sugar syrup. In a separate saucepan, combine 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 1/4 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Once the tapioca pearls are cooked, drain them and rinse them under cold water to remove excess starch.
Transfer the cooked pearls to a bowl and pour the sugar syrup over them. This adds sweetness and flavor. Toss the pearls gently in the syrup to coat them evenly. Let them sit for a few minutes.
Brew your choice of tea (black, green, or oolong) and sweeten it with 1-2 tablespoons of sugar or more to taste. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
Fill a glass with ice cubes, leaving enough room for the boba and milk.
Using a slotted spoon, scoop the sweetened tapioca pearls from the syrup and place them in the glass with ice.
Pour the sweetened tea over the ice and tapioca pearls.
Pour 1/2 cup of milk into the glass. You can also add a drizzle of condensed milk for extra creaminess and sweetness if you like.
Stir your boba tea thoroughly to mix the ingredients. Use a large straw to sip and enjoy your homemade boba tea!
Feel free to adjust the sweetness, tea strength, and milk type to your liking. Experiment with different flavors and toppings, like fruit syrups, fruit bits, or flavored jellies, to create your unique boba tea experience.
